On Jan. 23, the Performing Arts Club hosted a winter assembly, featuring performances by instrumentalists and dancers.
The instrumentalists presented musical covers of “Sugar Plum Fairy” by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra, and “Snowman” by Sia. Senior Audrey B. played the oboe, senior Nikhil N. played the violin, senior Elizabeth N. played the drums, and junior Dominic F. was on bass guitar.
For the dance, senior Irene K. and junior Mackenzie H. performed a dance set to “Winter Wonderland” by Laufey.

Prior to the performance, the instrumentalists met weekly starting in October.
Club director and lead instrumentalist Nikhil N. recalled carefully working together to find songs that would “gel with [their] lineup.” Each instrumentalist learned their parts independently while still keeping in contact weekly.
Three out of the four instrumentalists were seniors on the verge of graduating. Nikhil said he was “really happy with the quality of what everyone put in,” even as they were “juggling college applications and schoolwork.
The two dancers worked together to choreograph a dance that they both loved.
“It was a bit nerve wracking since I wasn’t sure how my classmates and teachers would perceive it, and I just hoped they liked it,” Irene said.
With the second semester having already arrived, new members have joined the club to prepare for their spring performance.
