During winter break, from Dec. 23 to Jan. 4, GWUOHS students used their free time to catch up or get ahead on schoolwork and spend time with their families.
Several students spent their winter break getting ready for finals, doing important schoolwork and resting.
Junior Shylea P. took an organized approach with her work.
“I went through the entire semester’s worth of [pre-calculus] coursework and took down examples on topics I didn’t quite understand to prepare for finals,” Shylea said.
Freshman Omar G. and junior Noelle P. used the time to catch up on assignments they hadn’t done yet.
Aside from catching up on schoolwork during winter break, students spent time with their families, and many had many different food-based traditions they did for the holidays.
Sophomore Felicity V.’s mother made home-made bread rolls, mashed potatoes, and lumpia, a Filipino spring roll, on Christmas. Omar enjoyed hot cocoa with well-seasoned catfish, while Noelle enjoyed corn beef and cabbage, which she believes brings wealth in the new year.
With the first semester ending on Jan. 23, finals week has finished as well. Students will have another break from Jan. 24 to Feb. 3 before the new semester begins.
